Remember a while back when we reported on the Xbox-360 DVD Drive mod chips that were availiable? Well now theres an easier cheaper method to get your x-box 360 to play burned games This is not meant to be a step by step guide for hacking your Xbox 360, it is more of an overview, if you want to know more then follow the links and find out. Google is your friend
The video above was provided by Textbook from www.360mods.net If you want to find out more from him then check his tutorials out at this link

By opening you xbox 360 and connecting its DVD-Drive to your PC you can extract the firmware of the drive. First of all you need to identify the drive model of the 360 Once you have this firmware you can then patch it to remove the media lock allowing you to boot backups. All the dics you burn have to be Dual Layer, even if the burned image is only 3gig, it must still be on a dual layer DVD.
These aren’t the cheapest of things but make sure you stick with a good brand such as Verbatim, this way you’ll be kinder to your Xbox DVD drive laser and your games will last longer, check out W2W.com for a cheap supplier of Verbatim Dual Layer DVD’s
Also check out the video below for a more in depth look at dissasembling your Xbox-360
Here’s a couple of links worth checking out for more information
www.xbox-scene.com - Must see forums for tutorials and help
www.llama.com/xbox360/ - The original X-Box hacking site, full of great tutorials
We’re not about to tell you where to get the required files to pull this off and we don’t want the comments section to become a link request section. Again, hacking you Microsoft Xbox-360 console will void your warranty, you carry the procedure out at completely your own risk!

yes it may be illegal to copy game but if you own the game allready then you can backup your game incase the disc gets scratched or wont play anymore i won my case in the courts the other week with this saying i had the origional disc some time ago coppied it incase the disc got scratched and was told by the crown court that this is not an infringment of copying i never had the orginals
but it helps to know your rights where this 1 stands

I purchased a xbox 360 via the internet from a “dealer” when the equipment arrived I could not get it to read games (us region) so I contacted the manufacturer and gave them the serial number. They tell me the console is an Asian model and they can not reset it to work in the U.S. any help ??
1:47 pm on June 26th, 2007
you can get games that will work on an asian 360 from http://www.playasia.com and similar sites, they’re roughly half price too. playasia also has a list of games that will work in your console. hope this helps

This is great much better to see it done in the flesh so to say .
Not that i think you should flash your drive as that is illegal

Well my warranty is just about to run out on my 360, so why not DIY im currently disassembling my 360 and removing the drive to flash it, but before i actually do that, im worried if it will still allow me to play online, as i love my halo3 game and only play it online now, will it still work?

Hey is there a chance of my xbox breaking the red lights of death or w/e chance of breaking??
11:49 am on December 16th, 2007
hi woodyo
unfortunately it will not work on xbox live after chipped
xbox live will ban you forever!
11:24 am on February 10th, 2008
xbox live will not ban you forever
the console gets banned if you are caught your gamertag stays untouched
downside if your console gets banned you will have to find another 360 to go live with

all xb360 will over heat, this is the cause of the red lights of death …it is simple to rectify and very cheap,it is a simple process of replacing a few pads..
i would suggest getting a switchable chip for your box if you wish to play on xblive..that or play your games on the alternate xbconnect
