1980’s Solid State Hard Drive – Biological Storage Device!

Posted on 18.09.06 in the category Videos

A 100 Gigabyte Solid state storage device from the 1980's, it works using green and red lasers to store and read the data. As explained in the video, the problem they had is that in the process of reading the information it also destroys the information. They get around this problem by using another laser to rewrite every bit….

Obviously it was never designed to be used in the home and was more proof of concept, thankfully our sold state media is now a bit more portable :)
