DIY AT-AT Bunk Bed

Posted on 03.06.12 in the category Woodwork

Novelty childrens beds come in all shapes and size, from cars to boats. But, if like Derek Dutilly you want your kid to have the ultimate bed and be the envy of all their friends, then you might want to try building this Star Wars inspired AT-AT High Sleeper!

The bed took Derek around 6 weeks and 60 hours to complete and is constructed using 2×4 timber, MDF and PVC pipes for the detailing. He has added some built in stairs as well as storage space and finished it off with a coat of grey paint.

The results are amazing and his son looks more than happy with his new bed, we imagine he will be the talk of the schoolyard when people find out he sleeps in an AT-AT!

You can visit Dereks site at this link to see loads more construction photos and a break down of the materials he used.
