Now you may not have heard of Troy Hurtubise before, but trust us, he is a legend! Troy is a Canadian inventor who has invested over 15 years of his life into designing and creating some amazing things.

The Bear suit was Troy’s first invention, after an encounter with a grizzly bear he became obsessed with the animals, learning everything he could about them. After a showing of the film Robocop he struck on an idea, a protective suit that would allow a human to survive an attck by a bear.

He invested over $15000 into creating his suit and finally came up with something he was happy with. He proceeded to prove its success by using himself as a guinea pig and being attacked by a bear whilst wearing the suit.

It was a success, but just to prove it some more and possibly gain some much deserved publicity he went on to survive a direct impact with a BMW and being thrown down an escarpment. Have a look at this video of the suit being put through its paces….

He has also created a number of compounds including the infamous fire paste. This is a secret blend of chemicals which when properly combined create a resilient heat resistant substance which can be used to coat things. He has successfully demonstrated this by applying a blowtorch, burning hotter than the spaceshuttle on re-entry to earth, to his face which was coated in the substance.

His latest invention dubbed ‘Project Troy’ has just been finalised, it is basically a slimmed down version of his bear suit but with a few extras to help the wearer including….

  • Laser Pointer Mounted In The Helmet
  • Compartment containging Morphine shots and salt
  • A Knife
  • Solar Powered Air Conditioning
  • On-Board Water Supply
  • Pepper Spray Dispenser in forearm
  • Recording Devices
  • Locating Transponder

The suit is constructed from HIP (High Impact Plastic) and has a creamic plate interior which is covered in ballistic foam

He claims the suit can withstand sustained attack from high velocity and high calibre projectiles, knife attack, bomb blasts, fire and just about any impact!

Weighing in at just 18kg the suit is so light you would hardly know you were wearing it! It could feasibly be manufactured for under $2000 and has to be a must buy for the military. How many lives could this save?

We’ll feature some more videos as we find them, in the meantime if you want to find out more about Troy Hurtubise then check out some of these links…..
