Geohot, the teenage hacker who originally won the iPhone hacking competition, along with a brand new Nissan 350z and 3 iPhones, has managed to do it again. Apple had managed to block all previous unlocking attempts with a new firmware but that , it seems, has now been cracked.
He has managed to get into the phone via some high level memory registers which Apple seem to have left unprotected. Apparently, Apple receive around $400 for every iPhone that is connected to an authorised network, so if your buying an iphone to unlock it then Apple gets none of that revenue.
Apple already make us pay for the phone on top of the contract yet they still want to make more money from you, it just comes down to greed on their part.
